The Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities will hold Local AEA EPA Season Auditions on April 19, 2026, from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm, by appointment only. Video auditions will not be accepted. 

If you have been previously cast in the last three seasons at the Arvada Center Theatre, you DO NOT need to attend the local general auditions. If you are interested in being considered for the season, please use this link to submit your headshot to the Production Tools folder.

Casting will be attending the CTG 2026 Unified Auditions. If you attend CTG, please do not schedule an audition appointment, as you will be under consideration.

The Arvada Center Artistic Director is Lynne Collins and the Associate Artistic Director is Kenny Moten. The Arvada Center is located at 6901 Wadsworth Blvd. in Arvada, Colorado. 

If you are a Non-AEA actor and sign up for an AEA appointment, you will not be considered, and your appointment will be cancelled.

For MUSICALS - Please prepare two contrasting pieces no longer than (2) minutes combined if you wish to be considered for multiple shows.

For PLAYS -  Please prepare two (2), one-minute contrasting monologues.

PAUL SHELDON - UNDERSTUDY

The role of PAUL SHELDON has been cast. We are seeking an understudy for this role.

(40 +, male) A famous novelist, Paul is charismatic, intelligent, charming, a touch arrogant, and extremely crafty. He writes successful romance novels, yet is growing tired of the books that have brought him fame. He starts the play with severe physical injuries from a near-fatal car crash and uses great cunning and determination to survive being held as a prisoner in the home of his number-one fan. This is a physically demanding role requiring strength and stamina, including a “fight to the death” stage combat scene.

ANNIE WILKES

(40 +, female) Annie is Paul Sheldon’s self-proclaimed number-one fan. A former nurse who saves Paul’s life after his car crash, at first, she seems awkwardly starstruck and eager to help him. Eventually, Annie reveals herself to be emotionally unstable and sometimes extremely cruel, hiding a deep and terrifying malice behind her cheery, simple façade. This is a physically demanding role requiring strength and stamina, including a “fight to the death” stage combat scene.

BUSTER

(30 +, male) Buster is a small-town local sheriff investigating a report that the famous novelist Paul Sheldon may be missing somewhere in the community. Having been raised in a small town, the sheriff is very friendly, helpful, and somewhat trusting. There are some physical demands (choreographed falling and being dragged) in this role.

CORIE BRATTER

(20-30, female) Corie is a free-spirited, energetic young woman who is deeply in love with her husband, Paul. She is optimistic, adventurous, and often acts on impulse, which often leads to entertaining but chaotic situations.

PAUL BRATTER

(20-30, male) Paul is a more reserved and practical individual, contrasting Corie’s spontaneity. He is a lawyer who takes his job seriously and often finds himself caught between his wife’s desires for excitement and his own need for stability.

ETHEL BANKS

(50+, female) Ethel is Corie’s mother and a widow. She is portrayed as a slightly more conservative and traditional character who often clashes with Corie’s carefree nature. However, Ethel’s love for her daughter shines through, and she adds a touch of wisdom and humor to the lives around her.

VICTOR VELASCO

(50+, male) Victor is the Bratters’ eccentric neighbor, who lives in the attic of their apartment building. He is a charming and flamboyant character who adds a dose of humor and excitement to the play. Victor’s presence allows for humorous interactions and exposes the contrasts between his extravagant lifestyle and the Bratters’ more conventional one.

HARRY PEPPER

(30+, male) Harry is the Bratters’ telephone repairman who ends up becoming entangled in their lives. He is a friendly and down-to-earth character who provides some comedic relief and adds an element of surprise to the storyline.

JOSEPH

(Male, Tenor) The eleventh and favorite son of Jacob. Effortlessly magnetic, stylish, and impossible to ignore. He carries the easy charm of someone who has always been set apart, but beneath the confidence is a young man still growing into the weight of who he is. Vocally strong with pop star charisma, warmth, humor, and heart.

NARRATOR

(Female, Soprano) A pop diva at the center of the story, leading the show with glamour, charisma, and vocal power. She guides the audience through Joseph’s journey like the headliner of a live concert and must be an exceptional singer with a bold contemporary presence.

PHARAOH

(Male or Female, Baritone or Mezzo) The ultimate global superstar, a once-in-a-generation icon whose every entrance feels like a stadium event. Glamorous, commanding, unpredictable, and larger than life. Needs immense presence, confidence, and the ability to turn a moment into a full-blown performance. Doubles as a member of the greater ensemble.

POTIPHAR

(Male, Baritone) Rich, self-indulgent, and sophisticated Egyptian capitalist. Makes Joseph the leader of his household. Strong character actor. Doubles as a member of the greater ensemble.

MRS. POTIPHAR

(Female, Alto) Indulgent and confident in her pursuit of what she wants, which at this time happens to be Joseph. Skilled dancer and singer. Doubles as a member of the greater ensemble

JACOB

(Male, Baritone)  Aged father of Joseph and his 11 brothers. Strong character actor who can sing and move well. Doubles as a member of the greater ensemble.

BUTLER

(Male or Female, Tenor or Mezzo)  Pharaoh’s right hand. While in jail, Joseph interprets the Butler’s dreams to a positive outcome. Doubles as a member of the greater ensemble.

BAKER

(Male or Female, Tenor or Mezzo) Head of Pharaoh’s kitchen. While in jail, Joseph interprets the Baker’s dreams to a less-than-positive outcome. Doubles as a member of the greater ensemble.

JOSEPH’S BROTHERS

(Various Ranges) A sharp, high-energy group. They move with precision and style, while each brother brings a distinct personality and point of view. Fueled by jealousy over Joseph’s favored status, they should be strong singers and dancers with a polished contemporary edge. Double as members of the greater ensemble.

(50+, female, white) An austere nun of the old guard who serves as Principal in the Catholic school in which the play is set. She holds strong to her beliefs, opinions, and convictions, come hell or high water.

FATHER FLYNN

(30s-40, male, white) A young, likable priest with views on the liberal side.

SISTER JAMES

(20s-40s, female, white) A younger, gentler foil to Sister Aloysius.

MRS. MULLER

(20s-40s, female, black) Mother to Donald Muller, the first black student to enroll in the Catholic school. She is protective and pragmatic.

EVAN HANSEN

(plays 17, male) Smart, sincere, and excruciatingly self-conscious, Evan prefers to hover in the background, too afraid to step forward into the spotlight and risk ridicule or, what might be worse, no one noticing him at all. Must be a strong pop tenor: G2-B4.

ZOE MURPHY

(plays 16, female) Sensitive and sophisticated with a sharp sense of humor, one of those popular kids who doesn’t care and doesn’t play the high school social status games. Zoe is troubled by the ambivalence she feels over her brother’s death. Pop Soprano: F3-E5.

ALANA BECK

(plays 17, female) Earnest to a fault, prone to and thrives on melodrama, all of which hides a deeper loneliness and insecurity beneath an ever-present smile and an almost aggressive friendliness. Pop Soprano: F3-E5. 

CONNOR MURPHY

(plays 17, male) An angry and disaffected loner, Connor has been a troubled kid for as long as anyone can remember. He is approached with caution by his peers and is a mystery to his parents. Pop Bari-Tenor: G2-G4.

JARED KLEINMAN

(plays 17, male) Droll and sarcastic, he covers his insecurities with a well-practiced swagger and a know-it-all arrogance. Pop Tenor: A2-B4.

HEIDI HANSEN

(40s-50s, female) Evan’s mother, she loves him fiercely but isn’t always able to “help” him and fears they have begun to grow apart. She is prepared to do anything to support her son and repair the damage. Pop Alto: F#3-E5.

CYNTHIA MURPHY

(40s-50s, female) Connor and Zoe’s mother. She appears to be the perfect mother, kind, nurturing, available, easy to talk to, but her own children may feel otherwise. Pop Soprano: F#3-E5

LARRY MURPHY

(40s-50s, male) Connor and Zoe’s father. Though often tense and taciturn, Larry shows a different face to the world, representing for Evan the dad he always wished for: strong, confident, and more than anything, reliable. Strong Pop Vocalist: F#2-G4.
