Auditions for Junie B. Jones, The Musical

The Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities will hold auditions for Junie B. Jones, The Musical on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities, 6901 Wadsworth Blvd., Arvada, CO 80003. Callbacks will be held Friday, September 26, 2025, and will include a dance audition.

Actors must be 18 years & older to audition. Please do not contact the production staff to schedule an appointment.  If you have any questions, contact tyacasting@arvadacenter.org.

Requirements:

Needed are local non-equity experienced performers with strong character, vocal, and dance skills. The actors will portray various characters. Roles are non-equity, paid positions.  Auditioners should prepare a one-minute monologue appropriate for TYA and 16 – 32 bars of an uptempo musical theatre piece not from the show.  A current résumé and headshot are required to be uploaded into Production Tools.

Junie B. Jones

A quirky, energetic first grader with comedic flair. Loves having adventures and writing about them in her journal. Gets upset when things don't go her way. Wildly precocious yet completely endearing. Gender: female presenting or non-binary. Vocal range top: E5 /Vocal range bottom: G#3

Lucille

Junie B.'s former best friend, also in first grade. The ultimate child diva. Rich girl, well-dressed. In Mr. Scary's class with Junie B. Enthusiastic. May double as JOSE. Gender: female presenting or non-binary. Vocal range top: E5 /Vocal range bottom: F3

Herb

Junie B.'s new best friend. A cute boy, slightly shy. Endearing and charming. May double as CHENILLE. Gender: male presenting or non-binary. Vocal range top: G4 /Vocal range bottom: A2

May

Another first grader in Mr. Scary's class with Junie B. Bossy, know-it-all. Junie's nemesis. May double as MOMMY and GRACE. Gender: female presenting or non-binary. Vocal range top: C5 /Vocal range bottom: A#3

Sheldon

Another first grader in Mr. Scary's class with Junie B. Nerdy, lactose intolerant, and gets a bit of stage fright. Excited about playing music. May double as LENNIE. Gender: male presenting or non-binary. Vocal range top: E4 /Vocal range bottom: B2

Camille

Lucille's new best friend and Chenille's twin sister. A follower. May US JUNIE B. JONES, MOMMY, GRACE and MAY. Gender: female presenting or non-binary.

Chenille

Lucille's other new best friend and Camille's twin sister. Coordinated and cute. May double as HERB. Gender: female presenting or non-binary.

Grace

Junie B.'s other former best friend. She rides the bus with Junie B. and is now best friends with Bobbi Jean Piper. May double as MOMMY and MAY. Gender: female presenting or non-binary.

Bobbi Jean Piper

Grace's new best friend. May US LUCILLE, JOSE, CAMILLE, CHENILLE and HERB. Gender: female presenting or non-binary.

Jose

The kids' favorite lunch lady at Junie B.'s elementary school, also known as "Gladys Gutzman, Queen of Snacks." May double as MR. SCARY, DADDY and MR. WOO. Gender: female presenting or non-binary.

**For this production we are casting three TEACHING ARTIST SWINGS, who will be responsible for knowing their swing tracks, as well as facilitating school programs workshops and the “Peek into the Production” program between shows. Teaching Artist Swings are expected to be present at all rehearsals. Once the production opens Teaching Artists Swings will watch one show a week and facilitate the “Peek into the Production” program and workshops at other times during the week.  Teaching Artist swings will need to be onsite for all Saturday performances and participate in the “Peek into the Production” program after each performance as needed. Teaching Artists Swings will be paid the same as the actors who are cast in the show, and will receive training from the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities Education Department.
