What is a Sensory-Friendly?
A relaxed performance like this one is designed to be more accessible and welcoming to people with a variety of sensory and communication needs, including those with autism, learning disabilities, anxiety, or dementia.
Some elements of the production have been changed. This includes: softened lighting effects, changes to sound and production and a reduction of sudden movements. Lights are kept on in the audience areas for sensory friendly performances. Seating is general admission and only a portion of seats are sold to allow patrons to choose their own seating preference and allow space between audience members. Talking and moving around during the performance are allowed. Support both inside and outside of the theatre is also given through items like weighted blankets, fidgets, head phones, and a designated quiet space.
