What is a Shadow Interpreted Performance?
A shadow-interpreted performance is a live theatrical production where American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters are integrated on-stage with the actors, shadowing them to make the performance more accessible to Deaf audiences. These interpreters are often costumed to blend into the scene, allowing the audience to watch the story unfold without having to look away from the action to see an off-stage interpreter.
