The Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities will hold auditions for Lyle the Crocodile on Friday, October 4, 2024, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities, 6901 Wadsworth Blvd., Arvada, CO 80003. Callbacks will be held on Tuesday, October 8, 2024.

General Audition Requirements:
Needed are local experienced performers with strong character, vocal, and dance skills. The actors will portray various characters. Roles are non-equity, paid positions.
Actors should prepare:
Please prepare a one-minute monologue appropriate for Theatre for Young Audiences and 16 – 32 bars of an up-tempo musical theatre piece not from the show.

Production Details
Rehearsals for Lyle the Crocodile will begin on Thursday, January 2, 2025, rehearsing weekdays from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm. The Main Stage production opens on Wednesday, January 22, running through February 28, 2025. Main Stage Performances are Monday through Friday at 10:00 am and noon, and various Saturdays at 11:00 am and 1:00 pm.

Character Breakdown
Actor 1: Hector. Hector is the original owner of Lyle and narrates the show. A theatrical MC or ringmaster. A commanding versatile presence who also becomes other characters including Loretta the cat. Strong singer, actor, dancer.
Actor 2: Joshua. A smart, cautious twelve-year-old boy who reluctantly shares his room with Lyle the Crocodile who becomes his best friend. Singer, actor, dancer. To be played by an adult.
Actor 3: Lyle. An outgoing, confident, charismatic crocodile. Must tap and have strong pantomime skills. Does not speak or sing.
Actor 4: Ms. Nitpicker. The neighborhood busy body. Strong singer, actor, dancer.
Actor 5: Mr. Primm. Joshua’s dad. A loving husband and father. Also plays a few other characters. Versatile singer, actor, dancer.
Actor 6: Mrs. Primm. Joshua’s mom. A loving wife and mother. Understudies Lyle. Must tap and have strong pantomime skills. Versatile singer, actor, strong dancer.
Actor 7: Mr. Grumps. A grouchy antagonistic neighbor who does not like Lyle. The owner of Loretta the cat who also does not like Lyle. Actor, singer, dancer.
Actors 8 and 9: Play a variety of characters and understudies some of the main characters. Versatile, strong singer, actor, dancer.
